How to install ELAC SUB Control 2.0 on an Android Device

Use this guide if ELAC Support has directed you to install the legacy SUB Control 2.0 app on an Android phone. An APK is an Android application installation file.

Before you begin

Important compatibility and security information: This is legacy software. Installation and operation depend on your phone, Android version, subwoofer model and firmware. A successful installation does not guarantee Bluetooth connection or correct operation. Installing apps outside Google Play carries security and privacy risks. Download only from the ELAC link provided with this guide, keep Google Play Protect enabled, and stop if your device reports a harmful app or blocks installation. Do not disable security protections to continue.

  • Back up important information on your phone before installing software.
  • Use an Android phone that supports Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy. This APK cannot be installed on an iPhone or iPad.
  • Confirm that your subwoofer and its firmware use SUB Control 2.0. ELAC also has SUB Control 3000 Series and SUB Control 3.0 apps; they are separate apps. Do not assume they are interchangeable.
  • If an existing app still works, leave it installed. Ask Support before uninstalling it or changing firmware.

For SUB3010 and SUB3030, our current firmware support article points to SUB Control 3000. If you are unsure which app to use, contact ELAC Support before installing this legacy version.

File type: APK
File size: approximately 2.58 MB

Download ELAC SUB Control 2.0 for Android (APK, version 0.0.22)

Legacy download: Version 0.0.22 is provided for compatible ELAC products. This may not be the newest release.

Install the APK

  1. Download the APK from the ELAC link above and open it from your browser's downloads or your phone's Files app.
  2. If Android asks permission for that browser or Files app to install applications, follow the Settings prompt and temporarily enable Allow from this source for that app only. Menu names vary by phone manufacturer. If your phone or an administrator does not permit this, stop and contact Support.
  3. Return to the installer and follow its prompts. Keep Play Protect enabled. If you see a harmful-app warning, an incompatible-package message, or a security block, stop; do not bypass it. Record the exact message for Support.
  4. After the installation attempt, turn the permission off again: Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps, select the browser or Files app you used, and disable Allow from this source. Do this even if installation failed.

Connect and use the app

  1. Power and connect your subwoofer according to its model-specific owner's manual. Begin with a moderate listening level.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and stay near the subwoofer. Open SUB Control 2.0 and follow its device connection prompts. If no subwoofer appears, stop and check with Support rather than changing firmware at random.
  3. Once connected, use the app's controls to adjust settings such as volume, crossover and phase as described in your subwoofer's manual. Change one setting at a time.
  4. If you choose an automatic calibration feature, allow microphone access when requested. Follow the app's measurement prompts and keep the room quiet. Do not assume a calibration completed successfully if the app reports an error.

Historical ELAC manuals describe app control and Bluetooth Low Energy, but they do not establish compatibility with every modern Android phone. This guide does not replace your model-specific manual.

If something does not work

Contact ELAC Support with your subwoofer model, phone model, Android version, app version, firmware version if known, and the exact error message. Tell us whether the problem occurred during download, installation, connection or calibration. Do not include passwords or other sensitive information.

Google provides additional guidance on installing apps from other sources and Google Play Protect.
